Crystal Man DWN-040
I was originally...meant to make crystals. Though lately I've taken an interest in more esoteric activities.

lord-mercury:

Crystal’s smile back let him know several things. The other wasn’t so nervous around him anymore and he seemed to feel reassured about something that was probably an internal conflict. He wasn’t about to pry and bring it up; after all, all he cared about was sizing Crystal up and seeing if he could prove anything super natural. No pressure or anything! Still, that lopsided grin remained and he found his gaze following Crystal’s own.

Seeing as they were just conversing about whether or not he wanted to sit, the bench was a likely guess to what he was looking at. He motioned in the direction with his head, his body following soon after as he turned in the bench’s direction and walked towards it. His pace was slow, and seemed to hold an easy going pace. It wasn’t graceful, but it wasn’t messy either… nothing like his usual stride.

“Anything to get away from that crowd… you earthlings puzzle me some times, ya know that?” He laughed a little as he plopped down on the bench, throwing both his feet out so he could slouch back down into it. His hands collapsed into his lap and after crossing one ankle over the other he waited patiently for Crystal to follow.”No offense, but I don’t find feeding fish fascinating. They act like it’s the coolest thing since… what’s that saying.. sliced bread?” He made a face, as if he truly didn’t get where that came from.

It wasn’t hard to keep up with Mercury’s easy-going pace, but he kept a few respectful inches between them. Crystal could certainly think of plenty of examples of if the other was inclined to inquire further on that topic. When they approached the bench he swiped his hand across it’s surface, away from Mercury so he wouldn’t get leaf bits in his face, and sat on it with straight posture. Crystal tried to imagine himself in the overtly casual slouch Mercury had taken up; he found it laughably unsuitable for one like himself. ”You forget that earthlings quite enjoy differentiating themselves between robots and humans. Humans are a strange folk indeed. Proud though, to say the least.” he remarked.

“I take no offense whatsoever to your preferences. I find just watching the fish much more appealing, but that isn’t what we came here for.” Crystal tilted his head to the side and nudged it with his hand, making the joints in his neck creak. “Tell me, where shall we start?” His red eyes looked toward Mercury from the corner of his eyes, hands now folded over his stomach. Even with the oversized sweater, the folds still hinted at the hard spherical lower torso beneath.

You’re Quite a Card, Aren’t You?

blackholesaturn:

crystal-man:

“I don’t mean to suggest anything, but it seems to me you’ve found the deck that’s right for you.” He gave a smile, once again scanning the assortment of decks. Then Crystal noticed the huge crystal ball he’d unknowingly dragged Saturn from a few minutes prior and lost his attention while he walked over to it, forgetting the cards completely. Flawless crystals, REAL ones that weren’t just shaped lead glass, were hard to come by. Upon closer investigation, it was a legitimate rock crystal specimen, but there were many cracks inside it. Not really an issue, unless you were a perfectionist- or programmed to make as perfect a crystal quartz sphere as possible.

“Really?” Saturn asked with increased interest. He found the right deck…simply because it felt warm in his hand? What a peculiar indicator. To see if that statement was true, Saturn reached out and touched the other decks…

…The cards didn’t give him as much as the jolt he’d received from his chosen deck. Was it just static? And the other cards don’t feel too warm, strangely enough. So, this deck is his chosen deck, for real? Saturn looked at the chosen deck, curious as ever.

Meanwhile, Crystal had gone over to the crystal ball he was looking at earlier. Saturn went over to it as well and asked, “What a large ball…What’s it for?”

Without turning away he responded “This ball of quartz? It’s typically used for scrying.” Then, Crystal straightened up suddenly.

“Wait, is this the first one you’ve seen?” In spite of his surprise, his voice wasn’t loud or hurried, since it wouldn’t do to be disruptive in a shop. All in all it would just mean he’d have an opportunity to talk about how crystals aided psychics in addition to scrying, that is, if Saturn wasn’t familiar with either of the two.

His face contorted through several different expressions before settling on insulted confusion. Coward? For refusing to jump into a fight because Napalm had delcared a duel with another Wily bot and followed through with it, resulting in the attention of people who were righteously angry with him? If it was under different circumstances where his brother didn’t have a choice in fighting another, Crystal definitely felt he would have acted differently. But Napalm had known what he was getting into. Idiot walking-talking-warhead had to go and pick a damn fight.

He wiped at his mouth while water on the rest of his body dripped down into the pool he was partially submerged in.

“Yes, you were the only one out of an entire line to help him. Did you ever think there might be a reason for that?”

He regretted saying it as soon as he’d finished speaking.

Wave got up and stalked towards Crystal at the edge of the pool. “It’s because I’m the only one who gives a crap about him!” When he got close, Wave bent down to Crystal’s eye level, his own green eyes narrowing. “Do you even do anything for this family anymore? Tell me when was the last time you’ve done anything useful for the rest of us? Huh? Come on, tell me you useless bastard!”

If there was an ounce of anger left in Crystal, it crumbled under the intimidation of being confronted by his angry brother Wave. He resisted the urge to back away, but his wide eyes gave away his anxiety- at this point Crystal was genuinely scared of saying the wrong thing and having Wave react badly. Crystal’s brow furrowed and his lip trembled. Useless…. Don’tcallmethat…” he choked out, defensive, but also pleading. But Maker…there was some truth to that statement, in a lack-of-action kind of way, and it really gnawed at him.

You’re Quite a Card, Aren’t You?

blackholesaturn:

Warm…How could a deck of cards be warm? Saturn couldn’t put his finger in it, but that’s exactly how his mind called it. The deck of cards resting on the palm of his hand is warm.

“In…a good way, yes.” Saturn replied, sounding like he had so many questions about the strange feeling he was getting from the cards. “I mean…It’s not burning my hand. Why is that?”
